MNS president Raj Thackeray has revived the Hindutva debate by stating that his idea of Hindutva was not applicable to members of the minority community from Beherampada and Bhiwandi.
Thackeray’s reply came after a student asked the MNS leader to clarify his party’s stance on the issue.
“I have not undergone conversion. I am a Hindu and my party has unshakeable faith in Hindutva. However, our idea of Hindutva is compatible not with Muslims from Beherampada and Bhiwandi, but with the likes of Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and Ustad Zakir Hussain, both musicians of international acclaim,“ Thackeray said on Thursday .
Thackeray was speaking at a special lecture for BMM students of the Podar college. The college had invited Thackerayto exchange his views with the students on the prevailing trends in the media.
Stating that he didn’t believe in taking a partisan view on the issue, Thackeray said spreading communal hatred was not MNS agenda. “But we can prove our strength if needed,“ he said.
