As many as 15 Muslim couples will get married at a mass marriage ceremony at Godhra on Friday , the anniversary of the Sabarmati Express carnage that left 59 dead. But what makes the event stand out is the fact that a majority of donors for the event are Hindus.
The event was started in 2008 to give out a message of communal harmony on the day that had triggered one of the worst riots in the state. The Godhra Samagra Muslim Samaj Samuh Lagna Committee was formed and it reached out to the Hindus in the town asking them to join the event. The response has been good so far with businessmen and persons from the service class donating to the event.
