For years, CJP’s Assam team has worked with families caught in the citizenship crisis, providing legal, paralegal and documentation support to those facing Foreigners Tribunals, D-voter proceedings and the threat of deportation.

From visiting hundreds of families every month to helping trace old records, establish family links and represent people in court, the work is painstaking and often takes years. These are not simply legal cases. They are people trying to hold on to their homes, their families and their right to belong.
