Shiv Sena’s Aurangabad MP Chandrakant Khaire allegedly roughed up a tehsildar and called him the “progeny of Aurangzeb” who was acting against the interests of Hindus.
The civic official, Ramesh Mundlod, was leading a demolition drive in a suburb of Aurangabad, Waluj, that also included demolition of illegal temples. Khaire was called in by locals after the demolition team arrived in the morning.
The four-time MP reportedly confronted the tehsildar and asked him why he was not demolishing Muslim structures. Khaire also allegedly pushed and abused the officer.
“What is your name? Did you break the thing that I had asked you to? Why are you breaking temples of Hindus?” Khaire reportedly said, as he launched into an onslaught of expletives aimed at the officer.
As a large crowd gathered, the demolition was called off. Later, Khaire defended his action, saying the official was corrupt and a “progeny of Aurangzeb”.
Defending his action that was caught on video, Khaire said: “He is the progeny of Aurangzeb. He is breaking the temples of Hindus which no one has dared to do so in this city. There has been an order to break a masjid at Kranti Chowk but no one touches it.”
