A day after violent clash between police and local residents in the communally sensitive Shahpur locality in Ahmedabad, the death of a 22-year-old youth has escalated tension in the area on Monday. The youngster had reportedly sustained bullet injuries during the clash and was admitted in VS hospital. He was on the ventilator and succumbed to his injuries early in the morning.
According to police Ashraf Pathan, a resident of Shahpur, sustained bullet injuries during the clash on Sunday late in the evening. Police said that it was a private firing in which the country-made pistol was used. Police have said that the bullet that was used is also made of aluminium and not of standard copper which is used by the police. However, Pathan’s family has said otherwise and demanded forensic test.
