Cop Booked Under SC/ST Act for Framing and Arresting Dalits

THOOTHUKUDI:Inspector Selvam who had framed and arrested four innocent Dalits in a double murder case was booked under the SC/ST Act at Thattaparai police station on Tuesday.
A senior police official claimed that Selvam was also added as one of the accused in the twin murder case at Varthagareddipatti near Thattaparai. Selvam was added not under section 302 (murder) of IPC but under the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act for falsely implicating four innocents.
The official also claimed that he had discussed the issue with the public prosecutor who had agreed that the case could be booked under the SC/ST Act against Selvam.
