‘Communal clashes may lead to riots ahead of 2019 polls’

12, Oct 2015

DOMBIVLI: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Saturday said the communal clashes that are being witnessed in different parts of the country could lead to riots ahead of the 2019 general elections.
“It is quite possible there will be communal riots ahead of the next general elections. What is happening in India currently could build up to that,” Thackeray said, when he was asked to comment on two recent incidents of communal violence in connection with the beef controversy.
“There is politics behind it. It is being done to return to power. I won’t be surprised if there is a war before the elections too,” he said, without naming any political party.
Thackeray also supported the stand taken by the Shiv Sena against Pakistani artists performing in Mumbai.
