A BJP leader and his four relatives were held for allegedly slaughtering a cow at his home in Tonkkhurd about 30 kms from Dewas on Wednesday.
The BJP expelled Anwar Mev alias Anna, who was associated with its minority cell, from the party after the police recovered beef from his house.
Investigating officer Vijay Sisodia told The Indian Express on Thursday that Anwar and nine others, including his eight relatives, were booked under the anti-cow slaughter law and relevant sections of the IPC and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals law.
Quoting a primary report of the local government veterinary hospital, Sisodia said the meat seized from Anwar’s home was cow meat but samples will be sent to a laboratory in Mathura for confirmation.
