Tension gripped Jambusar town in Bharuch district, situated some 50 kilometers from Vadodara, after a dead cow calf was found in a hotel premises in wee hours on Saturday.
The owner of a hotel in the Depot locality of the town was arrested in connection with slaughtering a cow calf, whose dead body was recovered from the premisesat around 2:30 am.
The police booked the hotel owner, Sikandar Rasool Malik and took him for questioning, while other persons involved in the act escaped before the police could reach the spot.
Security arrangements were tightened and the police teams were deployed on important points across the town, even a battalion of the Special Operations Group (SOG) was called in from Bharuch to ensure that the tension does not escalate into a communal clash.
