Students of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) ate beef on the campus and worshipped Mahishasur instead of goddess Durga and hence they are “anti-nationals,” said a Delhi Police report on the Afzal Guru event held on the campus on February 9.
The report reveals how the police had been snooping in the campus for the last two years and wanted the authorities to install CCTV cameras on the campus to monitor activities.
“The Special Branch of the Delhi Police has always kept an eye on the activities of students, students’ organisations and people who have a stake at JNU. In this regard, we have sent reports earlier also,” the police report on the incident read. It shows that the former Vice-Chancellor, S.K. Sopory, was aware of the police snooping.
“On October 16, 2015, the ACP, Special Branch, met Vice-Chancellor S.K. Sopory. During the meeting, various issues were discussed, including installing CCTV cameras to avoid any untoward incident. It was also discussed that often students were involved in slogan-shouting on the campus,” the report said.
