GUJARAT CARNAGE 2002
MEMORIES OF STRUGGLE
CJP was forged in the fires that engulfed Gujarat during one of the darkest periods in Indian history. We have been at the forefront of the quest for justice for victims and survivors of communal violence, in the courts and beyond. Over the last 20 years, 68 legal interventions either spearheaded or supported by CJP have led to the conviction of over 172 perpetrators of violence over 120 of whom were sentenced to life imprisonment. CJP's work has also led to path-breaking jurisprudence with respect to Victimology and Witness Protection. Here we have carefully documented this journey for justice, and the ongoing struggle, so that these memories are never erased.
