Aligarh:

UP police says it has found “no evidence“ of cow meat on the Aligarh Muslim University campus in its initial probe. Investigations into the BJP allegations of beef being served at the AMU canteen are still on.

The police’s initial findings drew a sharp reaction from city mayor Shakuntala Bharti, who represents BJP.She threatened to barge into the university “even if she has to pay with her life“.

A day after some local BJP and VHP activists led by Bharti made the allegation, no FIR has been filed. “Prima facie, no evidence was found and the probe is still on,“ SP (city) Anshul Gupta confirmed. The university had on Saturday clarified that the beef biryani mentioned in the menu was “buffalo biryani“. This was because beef was banned in the state.
