It decided to distribute posters of the proposed design of the Ram temple and saffron flags carrying its photographs during the event.
DAYS AFTER Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s (VHP) national working president Pravin Togadia had said that the organisation will not initiate any movement for the construction of a Ram temple, the VHP on Sunday did not take up the issue in a meeting of its Awadh region office-bearers, held at Karsevakpuram in Ayodhya.
This comes days before a bypoll is scheduled to be held in the Bikapur Assembly constituency, which has a large population of backwards and Muslims and is located adjacent to Ayodhya in the same Awadh region.
In the meeting, VHP focused on preparations for Ram Mahotsav that it will celebrate from April 8 to 22.
It decided to distribute posters of the proposed design of the Ram temple and saffron flags carrying its photographs during the event.
The meeting held in the presence of VHP central co-organisation general secretary Vinayak Rai Deshpande, joint secretary Ras Bihari and other office-bearers of eastern Kshetra and Awadh region.
“Ram Mahotsav will be celebrated across the country… around 1.25 lakh idols of Lord Ram will be placed in villages and religious programmes, like bhajans, aarti and discourse will be organised. Religious processions will also be taken out on April 15, which is Ram Navami,” VHP spokesperson Sharad Sharma said.
