One arrested in CPI leader Govind Pansare murder case; accused member of Sanatan Sanstha

According to sources, the accused has been identified as Samir Gaikwad. Gaikwad hails from Sangali and was arrested from his home town on Tuesday.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the murder of veteran CPI leader Govind Pansare has arrested an ‘active member’ of Sanatan Sanstha in connection with the case.
According to sources, the accused has been identified as Samir Gaikwad who hails from Sangali.
Gaikwad was arrested from his home town on Tuesday and was produced at a local court in Kolhapur next day which remanded him to seven days police custody.
Inspector General of Police Sanjay Kumar Verma, heading the SIT, confirmed the development.
“Samir is an active member of Sanatan Sanstha since 1998 and has been arrested and remanded to police custody until September 23. The arrest has been made on leads we got through electronic surveillance, ” Verma said.
