Muzaffarnagar riots: UP govt to challenge 39 acquittals in HC

After uproar over the recent acquittal of 39 ac cused in the 2013 Muzaffara nagar riots cases, the UP gov ernment has said it will chal lenge the verdict in the Alla habad high court. District magistrates of Muzaffarnagar and Shamli said they have already sent the documents needed for the HC plea to the state government while Baghpat administration will send the required papers in the next 48 hours.

Muzaffarnagar DM Nik hil Chandra Shukla told TOI “On the basis of the legal opinion that we have got from the district government counsel and the recommen dations from the police, we have gathered all the neces sary documents required for an appeal in the Allahabad high court and sent it to the law department. The proce dure for filing an appeal in the HC is on.“ Shamli DM Om Prakash Sharma said, “All the documents related to the acquittals of the accused from Shamli have been sent to the state government.“
