Over the weekend, nearly 30,000 farmers and Adivasis from across Mumbai have gathered in Mumbai. Their objective is to peacefully meet at Azad Maidan and place their demands before the Maharashtra Government. Here are a few images of the over 200 kms long Kisan Long March that began in Nashik on March 6 and culminated in Mumbai on March 12, 2018.
The farmers are demanding the implementation of farmer friendly minimum support price, a complete waiver of farm loans as well as the implementation of the Forest Rights Act. This images show how both men and women farmers, Adivasis and Forest Workers from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds are marching together in solidarity with each other’s cause. The images also show how volunteers are offering the marching farmers food and water.
