Differently abled woman finally declared ‘Indian’ in Assam Mamotaz Begum was freed from being called a 'doubtful citizen' with CJP's help

Assam: Having been living under the cloud of being a ‘Doubtful Citizen’ for 13 years, 55 year-old Mamotaz Begum, a differently abled woman, finally breathed a sigh of relief on August 25th, 2022.

With CJP’s persistent efforts that lasted more than six months, in the courts and beyond, she was finally declared an Indian.

As this victory brings light back into Mamotaz’s eyes, let’s take a look at her journey and how CJP’s intervention freed her from being called a ‘doubtful citizen’ in her own country.
