Cops in UP detain, question 15-year-old for cow slaughter

A 15-year-old boy , allegedly involved in cow slaughter, was on Friday was detained following a raid at Jamiruddin Hathai village in Haldaur area here. Three other accused have managed to flee, the police said. The minor was allowed to go home after questioning about his accomplices. According to sources, acting on a tip-off, a police team caught the boy redhanded while he and three others were slaughtering a cow. The police took the carcass of the animal in their possession.
Soon after the news spread, a large number of BJP and VHP activists staged a protest demonstration outside the district magistrate’s office and demanded that the boy and his accomplices be charged under the National Security Act.
