CJP alerts YouTube of two channels openly selling illegal firearms Two accounts on the platform have been flagged in the complaint

Firearms being sold like hot cakes by the youth on YouTube is a phenomenon one only dreads to see. Citizens for Justice and Peace has come across two channels on YouTube selling illegal firearms and uploading videos that display them. There are even contact numbers of sellers.
CJP came across “Vishnu gang” with more than 90,000 subscribers and “Random Gun” with more than 14,000 subscribers. Both have their contact numbers enlisted and regularly post videos showing guns, pistols and bullets.
CJP is dedicated to finding and bringing to light instances of Hate Speech, so that the bigots propagating these venomous ideas can be unmasked and brought to justice. To learn more about our campaign against hate speech, please become a member. To support our initiatives, please donate now!
The complaint highlights that the titles of these videos are clear enough and mention words like ‘pistol’ ‘gun’ ‘ katta’ (colloquial term in North India for a gun) which must make it easier for anyone looking for such content to find the channel.
The complaint also reminds YouTube of its community guidelines on firearms which states that one is not allowed to sell firearms on the platform.
Further, such unauthorised sale is a penal offence under the Arms Act whereby under section 5, it is prohibited to sell or offer for sale such firearms.
One does not know how many such illegal and unauthorised sales have been carried out by these channels and their owner. Thus, strict and immediate action has been proposed.
Our earlier efforts to take down offensive content on YouTube were also paid off when in May 2022, YouTube had suspended six videos for violating YouTube’s Community Guidelines regarding Hate Speech.
