PRESS RELEASE

CJP demands comprehensive judicial probe.

The direct identification of the state Government with policemen accused of Illegal and extra judicial killings in Gujarat demand that the Supreme Court Orders a Judicial inquiry into all such killings in the state;

That both the mother of Mahendra Jadhav, Mrs Sumitra Jadhav and widow of Jaffer Qasim’s Mariam have approached the Supreme Court of India for a Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the brutal and illegal killings of their son and husband respectively.

They have also asked the Supreme Court for

a)   direct disciplinary action including initiation of criminal proceedings against officers of the state found responsible for unconstitutional acts;

b)   direct the State of Gujarat to pay compensation for the life taken and lost; Officers of the Gujarat police, some of them within SIT and without are all embroiled in this concerted illegal action by the state. In the interests of natural justice none of those involved should have anything to do with these or other inquiries ordered by the apex court into gross human rights violations whether it is the mass killings of 2002 or the illegal criminal acts of the policemen at the behest of policemen thereafter.

Addressing a press conference in Ahmedabad today, the victim families have also demanded that a NARCO test be conducted on the allegedly guilty officers.

(The SLP application in the SC is large so please let us know if you require it…)
