While hearing a matter pertaining to students with learning disability, the Bombay High Court was informed that no test tool in Urdu has been evolved by professionals to test learning disability for children studying in Urdu medium schools.
Chief Justice Mohit Shah and Justice A K Menon were hearing a suo motu public interest litigation (PIL) in the form of a letter written to the court by two psychiatrists.
The letter stated that on March 25, parents of children with learning disability received a letter from the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), saying the students will not be granted a writer, but will be granted extra time instead.
