The saffron-clad swami has faced serious charges including that of murdering BD Dwivedi, a cabinet minister in Kalyan govt
Offensive communal remarks are perhaps the mildest of offences that BJP’s Unnao MP Sakshi Maharaj has indulged in as a look at his past reveals that the saffron-clad swami has faced serious charges, including that of murdering Brahm Dutt Dwivedi, a cabinet minister in the Kalyan Singh government, and of expulsion from the Rajya Sabha for allegedly misusing MPLAD funds.
Sakshi, 59, is now into his fourth term as a Lok Sabha MP . He was first elected from Mathura in UP in 1991 and then twice from Farrukhabad.Arguably the second most prominent OBC leader from the Lodh community, he enjoyed proximity to Kalyan Singh -the foremost leader from this caste in UP. He left BJP along with Singh in 1999 but returned to the party fold later.
