The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Sunday `converted’ 39 people from 11 Dalit Christian families to Hinduism as part of its controversial ghar wapsi programme in Kerala’s Alappuzha district on Sunday . The ceremony was held from 6am to 10am at Nallaveetil Bhadrakali temple near Cheriyanadu in the district.
Several VHP and Arya Samaj leaders were in attendance. Ganapati homam and shuddhi homam were performed for the `purification’ of the converts and they were told to recite Gayatri Mantra as the final step of the ritual.
