To avert any skirmishes between the Sikh and Muslim communities in the future, a peace forum will be formed in the city comprising religious heads, activists and respected personalities drawn from various communities.
This was one of the announcements of the peace delegation visiting the city consisting of members from National Confederation of Human Rights Organisation (NCHRO) and United Sikh Mission (USM). The delegation held a press meet on Saturday and said that vested interests were behind the clashes which claimed three lives due to police firing. “Vested interests behind Sikh-Muslim clashes in city”
“The city of Hyderabad had never witnessed any serious communal clashes between Sikhs and Muslims,” said Nagari Babaiya, Chairperson, NCHRO. “As part of the fact-finding committee we probed the matter and it looks like vested interests were behind the incident. Unfortunately, till date there has been no proper enquiry on this incident.”
