Surat: A 25-year-old woman was arrested by Surat police for allegedly sacrificing her three-month-old daughter. The infant had suffered serious burn marks on her stomach, which according to doctors at New Civil Hospital (NCH) in Surat, led to her death. Police believes that the girl was killed as part of some ritual.
The baby Chanchal Rajput was found dead at her aunt’s house in Ashapuri society of Pandesara area last Thursday. In her statement to police, Rajput’s aunt Sunita Yadav said the girl’s mother Shakuntala asked her to keep the baby for a few days and said that she would return soon. However, Shakuntala and her husband went missing after that.
