The Uttar Pradesh police filed a charge sheet on Wednesday in the case against controversial BJP leader Sangeet Som for allegedly violating prohibitory orders imposed in Bishahra village in Dadri in the aftermath of lynching of Akhlaq earlier this month.
Mr. Som, MLA from Sardhana in Meerut, was booked under Section 188 of the IPC for alleged violation of the prohibitory orders in the first week of October.
“The charge sheet has been filed and the law will take its own course,” N.P. Singh, District Magistrate of Gautam Buddh Nagar told The Hindu.
Mr. Som visited Bishahra village in a communally charged atmosphere and invoked the Muzaffarnagar riots while talking to a crowd.
He had addressed the crowd in the compound of the village temple which was allegedly misused to spread the rumour about beef at Mohammad Akhlaq’s house.
