Maulana held for radicalising youths

MUMBAI: The Nagpur unit of the anti-terrorism squad (ATS) on Sunday night arrested a Maulana from Pusad in Yavatmal district for allegedly radicalising four youths, including the accused who stabbed a police constable over the ‘beef ban’, in September. Inspector general of police (ATS) Niket Kaushik has confirmed the arrest.
Sources in the ATS said they had arrested Maulana Hafiz Muzibur from Pusad and a local court in Nagpur had on Monday remanded him in police custody till November 12.
According to sources, Muzibur brainwashed and radicalised at least four people at a local mosque in Pusad. Of the three identified people, two have been arrested. In the case, one of the accused, Abdul Mailk, had stabbed a police constable outside a mosque on September 25. Sources said provocations by the Maulana led to the attack
Apart from Malik, a person identified as Shoeb Khan from Pusad has also been arrested in the case.
