If J&K can hold polls, why can’t Gujarat: HC

The State Election Commission (SEC) on Thursday assured Gujarat high court that local body elections will be completed before December 25. The election watchdog was directed to keep an eye only on elections. The division bench criticized EC’s submission that elections were deferred as law and order in Gujarat was not conducive for free and fair elections. “If EC can hold elections in J&K, Gujarat is not even 2% of J&K in terms of law and order,“ the court said.
