How a visually impaired woman finds hope in CJP CJP counsels this marginalised woman beyond the call of duty

This is the story of Shantibala Ray, a 62-year-old woman who is almost blind and was detained in Assam’s Detention Camp for nearly four years.
Despite CJP’s efforts to secure her release from captivity, she was struggling in her daily life, owing to her disability and poverty. And so we at CJP reached out again to help her navigate 
physical, mental, and legal distress.
At CJP, we believe in empowering citizens even after providing legal aid to help them overcome their most pressing challenges until they can bear their burdens on their own.
