Fiery speech in Akhlaque village
04, Oct 2015
IMRANAHMED SIDDIQUI Oct. 4: Riot- accused BJP lawmaker Sangeet Som today visited lynching victim Mohammed Akhlaque’s village, accused the administration of ” appeasing cow killers” and threatened retaliation if police did not stop ” framing innocent youths”, drawing accusations of inciting communal passions further.
The MLA had been arrested in 2013 over the riots in nearby Muzaffarnagar, which killed over 60 people and displaced 50,000, and charged with instigating mobs with provocative speeches.
Today, he defied prohibitory orders to address a charged crowd of 1,000 in Bisara, speaking outside the temple from where a loudspeaker announcement had accused Akhlaque of storing and eating beef, prompting the September 28 lynching.
Police did nothing to stop Som — who had arrived with his full Z- category security detail — despite assemblies being banned under Section 144 in the western Uttar Pradesh village, about 50km from Delhi.
