Nadiad: The ‘Nadiad Bandh’ call given by the city unit of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) to protest against the alleged relationship of city-based minority community bootlegger, Masoom Mahida, with a Hindu girl, invoked sizeable response on Monday.
The bandh was near total as the entire city wore a deserted look with shops, business complexes, offices, banks and educational institutes remaining closed.
A massive rally was taken out by the people to protest against the alleged marriage of Mahida, 42, with a Hindu girl, half his age. The rally passed through the main thoroughfares of the town and later, a memorandum was submitted to Kheda district collector, KK Nirala, says Kaushik Patel, VHP leader.
