Taking suo motu cognisance of Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s statement criticising the SC decision striking down the National Judicial Appointments Commission (NJAC) for appointment of judges, a Mahoba court ordered the registration of a case of sedition against Jaitley.
The Union Minister has been asked to personally appear on the next hearing scheduled for November 19 and SP Mahoba has been asked to serve the summons on Jaitley. Subsequently, an FIR (number 328/15) under Section 505 and 124(A) of the IPC was registered against Jaitley at the Kulpahar Police Station later in the afternoon. Surprisingly, when enquired by top cops from Lucknow, the Station Officer suprisingly chose to conceal the fact and conveyed that the court took cognizance and summoned the Minister in the case.
As per reports, Kulpahar Civil Judge (Junior Division) Ankit Goel taking notice of media reports about Jaitley strongly criticising the recent SC decision on striking down the NJAC set up by the Centre, ordered lodging of an FIR against Jaitley.
