Haryana Police on Friday formed a threemember all-women commit ee to gather information rom victims of alleged sexual assault at Murthal in Sonipat district during the Jat agitation, a day after Punjab and Haryana High Court had asked the victims to come forward and file compla nts directly with chief judicial magistrates.
Meanwhile, the Manohar Lal Khattar government put the death toll during the agitation at 30. Another 200 people were injured, the government said.
Haryana DGP Yash Pal Singhal told reporters that DIG Rajshree Singh would head the Murthal probe committee. Women DSPs Bharti Dabas and Surinder Kaur are the other members. Singhal said Sonipat SP Abhishek Garg had on Friday collected pieces of women’s clothing from areas near NH 1 during the police probe into the alleged crime that was reportedly committed on February 22 night.
