Ahmedabad:
Kajal, the 17year-old victim of Monday’s acid attack in Mehsana, may fail to recover her vision. Dr M F Shaikh, head of plastic surgery in Civil Hospital expressed such concerns on Tuesday as the acid burns on the girl, currently in C-5 ward of the hospital, were too vicious. He added that there are deep burns of around 16 per cent on her face, neck and thighs.
Her shocked father, Mahendra Prajapati, said in a resigned tone, “We cannot undo whatever has been done to my daughter. Now my daughter is at the mercy of Nature.“ When her father talked about the incident, Kajal turned towards him and tried to open her eyes. She tried to express something, but the acid burn injuries prevented her from speaking.
“There is a danger of vision loss from the swelling caused by the chemical. Primary treatment is being given for the eyes,“ Dr Shaikh told TOI, adding, “We have to wait for a couple of days to assess the situation.“
