March 22, 2021

NIA Court denies Fr Stan Swamy bail. NIA had alleged that the group called Persecuted Political Prisoners Solidarity Committee (PPPSC) with which Fr Stan Swamy was associated, was a frontal organisation of the banned CPI (Maoists). However, Fr Stan Swamy's lawyers argued it is a human rights organisation that provides legal aid in Jharkhand.

After waiting for almost one whole month, Father Swamy received a sipper from jail authorities to drink water and tea.

Fr. Stan Swamy filed a bail application before the National Investigation Agency, Special Court in Mumbai to be released from Taloja Jail.

After 20 long days, the National Investigation Agency expressed its inability to provide a straw and sipper for the Jesuit priest.

Fr. Stan Swamy moved court requesting permission to use either a straw or a sipper to drink water as his hands shake due to Parkinsons disease making it impossible for him to hold a glass or a cup. But the National Investigation Agency (NIA) sought 20 days to respond to this request.
