BENGALURU: The co-convenor of the Bajrang Dal, Bhuvith Shetty, triggered a controversy by welcoming the assassination of scholar Prof MM Kalburgi who was shot dead at his house in Dharwad on Sunday morning.
In a tweet he said, “Then it was UR Ananthamurthy and now MM Kalburgi. Mock Hinduism and die dogs death. And dear KS Bhagwan you are next (sic).”
As news of Shetty’s tweet spread, left and progressive groups staged protests and claimed that the tweet was clear indication that Hindutva groups were behind the assassination.
