ACCUSED HELD AFTER RAPE CLIP CIRCULATED IN MUZAFFARNAGAR

MUZAFFARNAGAR: Khatauli police arrested two men allegedly involved in the gangrape of a 32-year-old married woman here. The accused, apprehended on Sunday, had raped the woman in Kelavada village under Khatauli police station, more than two years ago and filmed the act.
On Saturday, they circulated the clips on social media, which is when the victim lodged a complaint with the police. In her complaint the woman alleged that the men had been blackmailing her for the past two years, demanding money. SP city Pradeep Gupta confirmed the arrest of the accused on Sunday.
Police infor med that the accused had been demanding money from the victim, continuing the blackmail even after her marriage. When their demand of R 1 lakh was refused by the victim, the video clips were uploaded on social sites on Saturday.
According to circle officer Jogender Lal, after the woman’s complaint, a case was registered against the two accused, Irshad and Nazer on Saturday, under sections 376D and 506 of IPC. The woman was sent for medical examination and was later produced before the magistrate, where she recorded her statement, Lal added.
