On July 1st, Forest officials and the local police attacked the residents of Kajaria Village in Dudhwa, U.P. Many were seriously injured and women were physically assaulted. Taking advantage of the lockdown, forest officials have been continuously harassing and brutalising forest working people and ethnic communities, over the past couple of months.
Forest working women of the Tharu Community have now filed a case against the forest officials and a police inspector under IPC 323, 504, 566, 154, 393, 376, 511A and 364.
CJP stands with them and the All Indian Union of Forest Working People (AIUFWP).
