H.S. Doreswamy: Karnataka’s Foot Soldier

On the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, meet one of his greatest supporters and most devoted followers… HS Doreswamy. A veteran freedom fighter, school teacher and social activist, Doreswamy dedicated his life to the struggle for Indian Independence. In his youth, he was incarcerated by the colonial machinery for destroying imperial administrative documents and letters. Even today, at the ripe old age of 100 years, he continues to fight relentlessly against right wing communal forces.

Doreswamy has been a vociferous advocate of farmers rights and has even spearheaded a few protests against their exploitation in Karnataka. In this video he recounts his days of freedom struggle and his journey as a social and political activist fighting for the rights of the Dalit, Adivasi and other deprived communities.
