Ahmedabad:Ahmedabad: Right-wing groups continued their protest on Sunday against film star Shah Rukh Khan who is in the city to shoot for his upcoming film `Raees’. Late on Saturday night, some people had pelted with stones a car in the actor’s convoy when the film crew was entering a hotel’s premises on Ashram Road. On Sunday afternoon, another group tried to burn Shah Rukh’s effigy in front of the hotel.
The groups are protesting against the statement Shah Rukh had made last year saying that there is extreme intolerance in India.
Later the actor had apologized for his remark and said he hadn’t faced any intolerance in the country .
Police have arrested seven members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) for the stone-pelting incident and detained 17 people of the BJP Yuva Morcha for trying to burn the actor’s effigy .
The protesters were detained for violating the city police commissioner’s notification in this regard. Sunday’s incidents were the second time in the past 10 days in which the actor was targeted by righting organizations.
Earlier, the VHP had protested at shooting locations in Bhuj. After that, the police were for ced to increase security for Shah Rukh and the film crew.
