In a bid to create more medical facilities to enable a greater number of people to seek appropriate medical attention for Covid-19, the Delhi Government has approved the establishment of a 500-bed Covid treatment facility at the Main Ram Lila Ground near LNH Hospital and the Ram Lila Ground near GTB Hospital, similar to those established by DRDO near IGI Airport.
The Medical directors of the aforesaid hospitals are required to make all the facilities available for treating the patients and at the same time, ensuring specialists, nursing staff and ambulance.
Facilities set up in sports facilities, open grounds and stadia are playing a key role in combating Covid worldwide as well as in India. However, this also shows how overwhelmed the existing medical infrastructure is in the country and emphasises the need for a complete upgrade of the system and all resources.
