Humiliated, the girl had attempted to commit suicide
The police has registered a case against a 16-year-old boy in Malwani area for harassing and passing lewd comments to a minor girl from the locality.
The girl, also 16-year-old, had allegedly tried to commit suicide by consuming phenyl on January 23, but was spotted by her cousin brother who rushed her to a hospital. She was discharged on January 26. Later on January 27, police registered the case against the boy.
According to the police officials from Malvani police station, the complainant is a Class 10 student, who lives in Malad with her mother and brother. In her statement, the girl has claimed that the accused, who lives in the same area, used to pass lewd comments on the girl almost regularly. The accused allegedly wanted to be in a relationship with the girl and in order to convince her, he had also allegedly slashed his wrists.
In her statement, the girl has said that the accused spread rumors that she had lived with him in a place in Bandra for four days, which led to her feeling humiliated and she attempted to end her life.
Sources from the police said that girl was in a relationship with the accused six months ago. But unable to accept the break-up, the accused had been following and harassing her to resume their relationship.
