I have full faith in the Consti tution as well as the judiciary of the count ry,“ JNU students union president Kanhaiya Kumar told the metropolitan magistrate on Wednesday–the first time he has spoken on the issue since his arrest on February 12 –moments before he was sent to judicial custody till March 2.
Issuing a statement later in the day, he condemned the anti-India slogans raised at the February 9 event at JNU to comemmorate the death anniversary of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru. “The February 9 event in our university was unfortunate and I condemn it.Video clips reveal that some JNU students and a few outsiders raised unconstitutional slogans. I stand by the Constitution and do not support these slogans. I appeal for peace in the country , society and universities.“
