Meerut:A 16-year-old girl, whose family was displaced from their village in Baghpat district during the 2013 communal riots, was gangraped in Shamli.
The girl was allegedly abducted by three men and taken to a local dairy , where they raped her. The girl was displaced after the riots and was forced to live in riot camps till her family resettled in Shamli.
The incident occurred late on Thursday night.Shahrukh, one of the accused, was arrested while two others, Zulfam and Junaid, are still at large.
“The girl had gone to the fields but was abducted by the three. They pulled her on to a motorcycle, took her to a local dairy , which was closed at night, and gangraped her there. Her brother, who was with her when she was abducted, filed a complaint at the police station in the morning,“ said Naresh Tyagi, station officer at Kandhla police station.
“We filed a case under sections 323 (assault) and 376 (2) (g) (gangrape) of the Indian Penal Code against the trio. Shahrukh has also been arrested. The other two will be caught soon,“ Tyagi said.
