Cops attach rape-tainted RJD MLA’s Rs 8-cr property

Police on Sunday attached movable properties of Nawada RJD MLA Rajballabh Yadav , who has been absconding since an FIR was filed against him on February 9 in a minor’s rape case.
Nalanda additional district and sessions judge Rashmi Sikha had issued the attachment order on Saturday after hearing police’s fresh plea filed on the basis of a confessional statement of coaccused Sulekha Devi, who was allegedly involved in the case. Over 100 central armed force jawans with district police led by seven DSPs from Nalanda and Nawada districts had cordoned off the MLA ‘s village Pathra English under Mufassil police station since Saturday night to ensure smooth execution of the court order.

Police said six trucks were brought to carry away the attached property , including household goods as well as the door and window frames of the house. The items seized included refrigerator, almirahs, furniture, sofa, TV and a number of trunks and suitcases.

Keeping in mind the pos sibility of resistance from the MLA ‘s supporters, no one except media persons and of ficials was allowed near the house. Hundreds had gathe red on the village outskirts and speculated about the esti mated value of the items sei zed. Yadav’s property runs into crores of rupees. As per the affidavit filed with his no mination papers for last ye ar’s assembly election, it was valued at around Rs 8 crore.
