The minister of state for food processing in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, on Mon day said that the law to ban cow-slaughter will not do anything, much like the law to prevent female foeticide has still not resulted in an increase in the ratio of girls.
Speaking at a convention of Hindu saints on preventing cow-slaughter, at Sola Bhagwat Vidyapith in the Sola area here, Jyoti sa id Hindus should not sell cows to slaughterhouses in the first place.
She said that the BJP-government at the Centre will not give permission for a new slaughterhouse, but it is the duty of the Hindu community to protect cows.“Hindus also send their cows to slaughterhouses. They must stop doing this and only this will stop cowslaughter in India,“ she said.
“The formation of a new law will not do anything, as there is a law to prevent female foeticide, but girls are still being killed in their mother’s womb,“ she said.
