Indore: Hindu activists on Saturday pelted stones at RSS office at Trimurti Nagar of Dhar, in a protest against what they alleged was ‘a sellout of Bhojshala on Friday’. They accused the sangh leaders of facilitating the secret namaz at Bhojshala rooftop during Basant Panchami celebrations.
Stray incidents of violence and torching reported in some parts of the city sparked panic in Dhar, leading to shut down for the day.
Accusing local sangh leaders and members of Hindu Jagran Manch and Bhoj Utsav Samiti (BUS) for taking people for a ride, a mob of more than two-dozen biker and stoned RSS office and later at residence of BUS convener Vijay Singh Rathore. However, by then police took charge of the situation. A couple of vehicles were torched in market area while a vegetable shop was set ablaze.
Soon after the violence, a BUS representative lodged police complaint against 13 people after which police arrested four of them.
Superintendent of police (SP) Dhar Rajesh Hingankar said, “We immediately alerted teams that took control of the situation. We have arrested four people in connection to disturbing peace and harmony in the city. Situation is under control. A reward has been announced on others found indulging in violence.”
