Finance minister says action would be taken as per constitutional provisions, not based on public perception

Stating that government would not ban Sanatan Sanstha or any other organization just because there is a demand for the same, state finance minister Sudhir Mungantiwar on Wednesday said if the organization in question is found involved in anti-social or anti-national activities action would be taken in this regard as per constitutional provisions.
Samir Gaikwad, who is member of Sanatan Sanstha, was arrested a few days ago for his alleged involvement in the Late Govind Pansare murder case. After his arrest, there was a demand from Pansare family members along with family members of Late Narendra Dabholkar — anti-superstitions activist, who was also murdered — to ban Sanstha. Both, Pansare and Dabholkar, had received threats from Right Wing activists and organizations.
Replying to a question during a press conference after the cabinet meeting, Mungantiwar said whatever action would be taken would be as per the constitutional provisions. He said that government cannot ban any organization on basis of demands for the same. He also made it clear that the government cannot act on the basis of prejudices but would not spare any organization being involved in anti-social or anti-national activities.
