In an incident that illustrates that untouchability -called the curse of the country almost a century ago by Gandhi -still thrives in many parts of modern India, members of a Dalit community were barred from serving food at a community feast organized at a temple in Rewati village near Aonla on Friday night.
When many Dalits belonging to the Jatav community objected to the move, they were allegedly abused and chased away by upper castes.
