This is an appeal by Teesta Setalvad to all peace-minded, progressive citizens of Maharashtra – its workers, students, politicians, writers, journalists and artists among others, to speak out against the rise in organised hate spewing rallies being held across Maharashtra.
CJP has persistently exposed the extent of hate speech made publicly at these gatherings. Even the Supreme Court had to ask the Maharashtra police to ensure that hate speech is curbed. But little seems to be changing on ground. Unfortunately, this steady stream of hatred being served has the potential to hurt the most vulnerable sections of our population.
We must come together and demand that the law takes its course, that hate speech is acted on. That justice and peace prevails.
